Is remote/virtual tutoring available?
Yes! The core of Code to Read is that every child, regardless of location can receive reading tutoring. Tutoring is available via Zoom. I am located in Manhattan for those that require in-person tutoring.
What age group do you specialize in for reading?
I offer specialized reading tutoring services for children in grades K through 6, tailoring my approach to meet the developmental needs of each age group.
What's your approach to teaching reading?
Science-based, using multiple modes of instruction (utilizing a whiteboard, air writing, magnetic letters etc), student centered.
What qualifications do you have as a reading tutor?
I hold a master’s degree in childhood education from Relay Graduate School of Education and have extensive experience as a second-grade teacher. My background also includes teaching kindergarten, which has given me a broad understanding of early literacy development.
How do you figure out what my child needs to work on?
I assess each child during the first session and then make a targeted plan on what the child needs to work on.
What is your availability for tutoring sessions?
I offer flexible scheduling options to accommodate the busy lives of Manhattan families. Please contact me directly to discuss available times that will work best for you and your child.
What is the cost of remote tutoring sessions?
Code to Read’s pricing is competitive and based on session length and frequency. Schedule your consultation so that we can discuss and accommodate your child’s needs.
Is remote tutoring just as effective as in-person tutoring?
Studies have shown that remote tutoring can be just as effective as in-person tutoring, especially for reading. Additionally, remote tutoring offers convenience and flexibility.
What technology do you use for remote tutoring sessions?
We will use Zoom for all of our sessions
What types of activities do you use in your tutoring sessions?
We use a variety of engaging and interactive activities, such as games, books, and online resources, to keep children motivated and learning.
What happens if my child is struggling with a particular concept?
I will work with your child to break down difficult concepts and provide additional support.
Can parents participate in remote tutoring sessions?
Absolutely! Parents are welcome to observe sessions and provide input or feedback as needed. I believe in transparent communication and encourage parent involvement in their child’s learning journey.
