One-on-One Reading Tutoring for Grades K-6, at Home or Online

Reading Tutoring at Home in Hoboken
Code To Read brings one-on-one reading tutoring to Hoboken families with children in kindergarten through sixth grade. Eliana Levey lives in Manhattan and crosses the Hudson for in-home sessions, so your child can learn at home instead of adding another trip to the week.
Families who would rather meet online can choose live sessions on Zoom. The plan and the one-on-one attention are the same either way.
The first step is a free 30-minute consultation to talk about your child’s reading and how sessions would work.
Hey, I'm Eliana Levey!
I’m a reading interventionist who has taught kindergarten and second grade, and I hold a master’s degree in childhood education from Relay Graduate School of Education.
I’m based in Manhattan and travel to Hoboken for in-home sessions. Learning at home means your child works in a familiar, comfortable space, and you can see their progress up close.
Lessons are hands-on and multisensory, with whiteboards, magnetic letters and air writing, so reading skills get practiced in more than one way.
My hope is that every child I work with leaves a session feeling capable and proud of their reading.

The Process
Four steps take you from your first call to regular sessions at home in Hoboken or on Zoom.
Schedule your initial meeting to discuss your child's reading needs and goals.
We delve into understanding your child's reading strengths and areas that need a little extra attention.
We design a customized learning plan specifically tailored to your child's needs.
With the plan in action, your child embarks on their reading adventure, attending regular tutoring sessions.

Code To Read's Approach to Reading
Reading grows step by step. Each session builds on the last, at a pace that fits your child.
Your child's plan comes from a one-on-one assessment and changes as their reading improves.
Seeing, saying, hearing and moving all play a part, so practice feels active instead of repetitive.
Experience teaching kindergarten and second grade shapes how each lesson is planned and paced.
Reading Support for Hoboken Families
Hoboken, the Mile Square City, sits on the Hudson directly across from Manhattan, with public, charter and private elementary schools. Whichever school your child attends, tutoring starts from your child’s own assessment, so it supports classroom reading instead of repeating it.
- Letter sounds, phonics and decoding
- Reading aloud smoothly and with expression
- Understanding and retelling stories
- Confidence to read on their own
New Jersey law asks public schools to screen children in kindergarten through second grade who show possible signs of dyslexia or other reading difficulties. If your child’s school has raised a reading concern, the free consultation is a good place to talk it through. New Jersey’s statewide reading test, the NJSLA-A, begins in third grade.
